Central Papua Timika, Central Papua — The joint training program between the Central Papua Provincial Government and the Somatua Foundation continues to progress steadily at the Somatua Training Center (STC). Today, participants in the concrete stone construction training entered the practical phase of building foundation installation — a crucial step in the construction process, guided directly by experienced instructor Abraham Marandof.

During the practical session, participants were introduced to the methods of installing building foundations. builder's board or boblang as an initial stage before constructing the main structure. “Every building must start from the ground up — with its foundation,” explained Abraham. “Today, we are focusing on installing reinforcement for the foundation. Instead of using stones, we’re using wire to create the framework, followed by the installation of guide poles as a base for laying concrete blocks later on.”

The practical session was carried out using an interactive approach. Each step of the process was directly evaluated to ensure that participants fully understood both the function and the proper techniques for field implementation.

“We engage the participants in discussions at every stage of the work. So far, they have shown a good understanding of what they’re doing, although of course there’s still room for improvement,” added Abraham.

The total number of participants in this training was fivepeopleall of whom were selected through the collaborative program between the Central Papua Provincial Government and the Somatua Foundation. This training is designed to strengthen the capacity of local human resources in the field of construction, while also creating job opportunities for the indigenous youth of Papua.

After completing today’s foundation stage, participants will return to the classroom to study material on wall structure planning and installationwhich will prepare them for the next phase of the construction process. truss construction with light steel.
