In an effort to improve knowledge and readiness in handling emergency situations, the training students at Somatua Training Center participated in General Occupational Health and Safety (K3) training with a focus on the use of Fire Extinguishers (APAR) on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the yard of PT Mpaigelah, located behind the Pemda housing area on Jalan Cenderawasih SP 2.

This training aims to equip students with the proper skills and knowledge to effectively and safely handle small fires. The activity was attended by the training students of intake 16 General Occupational Health and Safety (K3) from Somatua Training Center and the safety team of PT Mpaigelah. The training featured experienced instructors from the K3 field who presented practical materials.

Meanwhile, during the practical session, the students practiced directly:

  • Identifying types of fire extinguishers (APAR)
  • Operating fire extinguishers (APAR) correctly
  • Extinguishing small fires with fire extinguishers (APAR)

This training is expected to raise students’ awareness about the importance of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) and equip them with the skills to handle small fires safely and effectively. 'With this training, we want to ensure that students have the knowledge and skills needed to face emergency situations,' said Subana, the K3 instructor from Somatua Training Center.

The Occupational Health and Safety (K3) and Fire Extinguisher (APAR) training is a collaboration between Somatua Training Center and PT Mpaigelah in an effort to create a safe and conducive work environment.(STC)
