A number of government officials from Papua Pegunungan Province had the opportunity to inspect the training facilities at Somatua Training Center during their visit to Timika. The group was directly accompanied by the Chairman of the Somatua Foundation, Maximus Tipagau, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
During the visit, the group toured several training facilities used by the Somatua Training Center (STC) Vocational Training Institute. The visit began at the training facilities located in the main building of Somatua Training Center on Cendrawasih Street KM 3.5, Timika. At this site, the group received explanations from Maximus Tipagau, the head of the Somatua Foundation, regarding the training process and the available supporting equipment. The delegation, which included several heads of departments such as Bappeda, Fire Department, Public Works, and others, followed the presentation with great attention and enthusiasm.

In addition, the group also inspected the theory classroom located on the second floor of the Somatua Training Center building and observed an ongoing safety skills training session. After a group photo session, still accompanied by Maximus Tipagau, the delegation moved to the practical training area for excavator operators behind the Pemda Housing complex on Cenderawasih Street, Timika. At this site, the group, which consisted of a convoy of nearly ten vehicles, only toured around the PT Mpaigelah office area and shop, which also serves as the practical training location for students enrolled in the excavator operator and welding technique training programs.

Next, the group proceeded to the Balai Latihan Kerja building located on Heatubun Street. This facility will be utilized by Somatua Training Center as a training hub and dormitory for trainees coming from outside Mimika. Maximus Tipagau explained in detail the training implementation plans at Somatua Training Center, which attracted significant attention from the officials from Papua Pegunungan Province who were part of the delegation. They enthusiastically welcomed the idea as one of the solutions for developing Papua’s Human Resources, especially in the eight regencies of Papua Pegunungan Province. It is hoped that from this visit and discussion, the Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government and the Somatua Foundation will soon formalize a Cooperation Agreement to train candidates from this new province.
After touring and reviewing the Somatua Training Center training facilities, the group had lunch together before leaving for SP 1 to watch the Papua Pegunungan Province Pre-PON football and futsal teams competing at the Wania Imipi stadium, SP 1 Timika.(TimSTC)
