Two months have passed since six training participants from Intan Jaya Regency began their training at Somatua Training Center (STC) in Timika. On Monday, December 11, 2023, the training activities were officially closed by Maximus Tipagau, a young Papuan leader who is also a successful entrepreneur from Papua and the founder of the Somatua Foundation.

In his speech, Maximus expressed his appreciation for the strong collaboration between the Intan Jaya Regency Government and the Somatua Foundation in organizing this training. With tears in his eyes, he also congratulated the training participants who successfully completed the program.
“I am very proud of these training participants, many of whom are men over 40 years old but still have the enthusiasm to learn and practice. They have shown an extraordinary spirit to learn and develop themselves. I am confident they will become quality human resources ready to compete in the workforce. I salute and thank these gentlemen,” said Maximus.

Maximus also encouraged the training participants to keep developing themselves and not to be easily satisfied with what they have achieved. He expressed his hope that the participants would become agents of change in Intan Jaya Regency.
“Be a resilient and competitive young generation. Become agents of change who bring progress to Intan Jaya Regency, and remember to encourage your children to pursue education as well,” Maximus urged.

On the same occasion, Djerry Dwitau, Head of the Manpower and Industry Division of Intan Jaya Regency, expressed his gratitude to the Somatua Foundation for its support in organizing the training. He also hoped that this training program could become a sustainable initiative.
“We hope this training can become a sustainable program so that more sons and daughters of Intan Jaya Regency have the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge,” said Djerry.
In this training, participants were equipped with skills and knowledge in wood and concrete construction. They also received material on self-development and soft skills.

Naftali Belau, representing the training participants, expressed, “Thank you to the Intan Jaya local government and Somatua Training Center for sending us all the way to Timika to learn. We hope the knowledge we have gained will be useful when we return to our villages in Intan Jaya.”

Tutup Abraham Marandof Instruktur Konstruksi.

The event concluded with the awarding of training certificates from Somatua Training Center. It is hoped that the participants will make the most of the knowledge and skills they have gained to build a better future for themselves, their families, and Intan Jaya Regency.(TIMSTC)
