After completing a one-month training program at STC, the trainees recruited by the Regional Government of Mimika Regency through the Department of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans), funded by the Special Autonomy (Otsus) budget, received their training certificates on Saturday (September 16) at Hotel Serayu, Jl. Yos Sudarso, Timika. As is known, this training program was specifically designed for Indigenous Papuans (OAP) and individuals born and raised in Timika (LABETI). Disnakertrans entrusted 51 participants to gain skills at STC, focusing on two areas of expertise: excavator operation and carpentry.

The Head of the Department of Manpower and Transmigration of Mimika Regency, Paulus Yanengga, S.H., M.Si, was present at the certificate and tool handover ceremony, accompanied by staff, committee members, representatives from other regional departments (OPD), and Bank Papua. In his remarks, the Disnakertrans Head emphasized that the graduates of this second batch of training are expected to apply the skills they have gained in the professional world.

Meanwhile, Mey M. Ubra, S.E., representing STC, delivered a speech on behalf of the training institution in partnership with the Department of Manpower and Transmigration. "On behalf of Mr. Maximus Tipagau, Director of the Somatua Foundation, I would like to express our gratitude to the Regional Government through the Department of Manpower and Transmigration of Mimika Regency for entrusting us, Somatua Training Center, to mentor and equip 51 trainees with knowledge and skills through two programs: the excavator operator class and the carpentry/construction class," said Mey M. Ubra in her speech.

In addition to receiving certificates, the graduates—especially those from the carpentry program—were also equipped with work tools. All participants also received pocket money in the form of savings accounts through Bank Papua. The certificates and work tools were handed over symbolically by the Head of the Department of Manpower and Transmigration to selected representatives from the excavator operator, carpentry, and mechanic training programs. For your information, participants in the mechanic training program underwent their training at LPK Papua Academy.

The series of training programs in collaboration with the Department of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans) of Mimika Regency is not yet complete as of today. The closing ceremony is planned to take place in early October, as the welding training is still ongoing and has yet to be completed.(TimSTC)
