The Training Program from Disnakertrans Mimika Regency at Somatua Training Center concluded on Friday (September 1, 2023). This cooperation, funded by the 2023 Special Autonomy (Otsus) budget, aimed to educate and provide skills to Indigenous Papuans (OAP) and non-Papuans born and raised in Mimika.

On Saturday (September 2, 2023), representatives from Disnakertrans Mimika Regency picked up the training students and held a thanksgiving lunch together at Somatua Training Center to mark the farewell.

“I, on behalf of Mr. Maximus Tipagau, Director of Yayasan Somatua, would like to express our gratitude to the Department of Manpower and Transmigration of Mimika for entrusting Somatua Training Center for 30 days to educate the students recruited by Disnaker to study at our Training Center. The classes attended were Heavy Equipment Operator and Wood Construction,” said Mey Ubra, Operational Head of Yayasan Somatua.

Next, the Regional Government of Mimika, through the Department of Manpower and Transmigration, hopes to continue organizing activities like this, as they have received support from the Regional House of Representatives (DPR) and the local community, since these programs create positive impacts for the youth as skilled young generations. “I encourage all the young participants who have completed this training to always stay enthusiastic and keep improving your skills, so that after finishing here, you can be ready and valued in the workforce,” said Paulus Yanengga, SH., M.Si., Head of the Department of Manpower and Transmigration of Mimika.

The event that afternoon concluded with a shared meal and group photos. The Somatua Training Center (STC) also expressed hope that the knowledge and skills imparted during the training would serve as valuable preparation for all the trainees in their future careers. (TIMSTC)
