Timika, Papua Tengah – Four students from Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, began their orientation class in Classroom A at the Somatua Training Center building on Friday (October 26, 2023). Their attendance is the result of a collaboration between the Intan Jaya Regency Government, through the Department of Manpower and Industry, and the Somatua Foundation, which oversees the Somatua Training Center.

This orientation class marks the beginning for the students to deepen their knowledge and skills in operating heavy equipment over the next two months. During this period, they will participate in comprehensive theory and practical classes, equipping them with the knowledge and abilities needed to become skilled and professional heavy equipment operators.

On the first day, the students were warmly welcomed by the Somatua Training Center team. Experienced instructors provided briefings on the training program, activity schedule, and rules that must be followed throughout the training.

The students’ enthusiasm was clearly visible on their faces. They were very excited to embark on this new journey and eager to learn as much as possible. For them, this training is a valuable opportunity to enhance their skills and open up better job prospects in the future.

This training is a concrete effort by the local government to improve the quality of human resources (HR) in Intan Jaya Regency. It is hoped that by acquiring heavy equipment operation skills, the students can contribute to regional development, particularly in ongoing and future infrastructure projects.
