Somatua Training Center is back again with the Somatua Goes to School program to promote its training institution, Somatua Training Center. This vocational training center aims to improve human resources, especially among the seven tribes of Papua.
The Somatua Goes to School team returned today to SMA Sentra Pendidikan after visiting last week. About 150 students, mostly from the 12th grade, participated in today’s outreach session on Thursday, March 15, 2024.

As the name Somatua means “light” in the Moni language, Somatua Training Center was established to bring light to the future of Papuan youth, especially those from the Seven Tribes. For 12th-grade students who have not yet had the chance to pursue higher education after graduation, the training programs at Somatua Training Center can serve as a valuable option before entering the workforce.
Somatua Training Center provides comprehensive training and certification that can be used to apply for jobs anywhere within Indonesia.
“You must study well and develop your skills so that one day you can become successful,” emphasized Mr. A. Korowa, who was present along with the Somatua Goes to School team. “Younger siblings, especially from the seven tribes, Papua is rich, but we are still lagging behind in competition. That’s why we must learn. This is one of the reasons Somatua exists—to bring light,” he added firmly.

“As the student council president, I would like to thank Somatua Training Center for being here with us at SMA Sentra Pendidikan and providing us with valuable insights. This is especially beneficial for us from the seven tribes, because sometimes we are unable to continue our education to the next level. After I graduate from this school, I plan to join training at Somatua Training Center,” expressed Jhon, a student from the Amungme tribe and the student council president of this school dedicated to Papuan children.

Somatua Training Center invites students of SMA Sentra Pendidikan and the communities of Papua's Seven Tribes to take advantage of the available training programs to enhance their skills and prepare for entering the workforce. Education and training are the keys to achieving success.(STC)
