Somatua Training Center (STC) held an orientation class for Intake XVI participants on the second day, February 23, 2024, focusing on basic occupational health and safety (K3) material. This class aims to equip participants with fundamental knowledge and skills about workplace safety in both mining and non-mining industrial sectors before starting practical classes.

The basic occupational health and safety (K3) material was delivered directly by professional instructor Mr. Subana, who has extensive experience in workplace safety. Subana Simamora presented various important topics, such as:

  • Introduction to K3 The definition, purpose, and benefits of occupational health and safety (K3) in the workplace.
  • Risk Identification and Assessment: How to identify and assess potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Pengendalian Risiko: Upaya-upaya untuk mengendalikan dan meminimalkan risiko kecelakaan kerja.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and their proper usage.
  • Emergency Procedures: Knowledge of evacuation procedures and emergency actions in dangerous situations.

Subana Simamora, an instructor at Somatua Training Center, stated that this orientation class is an important part of the training program at STC. “We want to ensure that participants have adequate knowledge and skills about workplace safety before they enter the industrial world,” he said.

One of the Intake XVI participants expressed that the basic occupational health and safety (K3) material was very beneficial for him. “I learned a lot about how to protect myself at the workplace. This material is very important, and I will apply it in my future job,” he said.

The Intake XVI orientation class at Somatua Training Center is an important first step in preparing Papuan youth to work safely and professionally across various industrial sectors.
