Training participants from Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, took part in a class on the basic principles of building house foundations at Somatua Training Center (STC) in Timika. This lesson is part of a construction training program organized by Somatua Training Center in collaboration with the Intan Jaya Regency Government.
Today, the students learned about various types of house foundations, the functions of foundations, and how to calculate foundation dimensions. They also studied how to select the appropriate materials for building foundations during a classroom session at Somatua Training Center on Tuesday (November 21, 2023).
The training instructor, Abraham Marandof, stated that learning the fundamentals of building house foundations is essential for the trainees. This is because the foundation is a crucial structural component of any building. A strong foundation ensures the stability and safety of the structure.
“Foundation is the base of a building,” said Abraham. “If the foundation is not strong, the building will easily collapse.”
The training students appeared highly enthusiastic during the lesson. They actively asked questions to the instructor to better understand the material being presented.
"This lesson is very useful," said one of the training students, Andreas. "Now I understand how to build a proper foundation."
The Government of Intan Jaya Regency hopes that this training will enhance the skills of the trainees in the field of construction. With the skills they acquire, the trainees are expected to create new job opportunities in Intan Jaya Regency.(TimSTC)
