Exactly two weeks after participating in training activities at Somatua Training Center (STC), six trainees involved in the cooperation between the Intan Jaya Regency Government and Somatua Training Center received a visit from the Head of the Manpower and Training Division, Jerry Diwitau, S.Ip., M.Sos., on Monday (13/11/2023). This visit marked the first official visit from the Intan Jaya Regency Government to the trainees handed over to Somatua Training Center on October 6, 2023. It also serves as proof that coordination between both parties continues smoothly to ensure the training activities for these six trainees proceed as expected.

The face-to-face meeting between the six trainees and the Head of the Manpower and Training Division took place in Room C on the second floor of the Somatua Training Center building, Jl. Cendrawasih Timika. When the official from the Department of Manpower and Industry of Intan Jaya Regency arrived, the trainees were attending a practical session in the STC practice area. The training activities resumed after the approximately half-hour meeting.
In his address to the trainees, Jerry Diwitau emphasized that the Intan Jaya Regency Government has entrusted the trainees to the Somatua Foundation (represented by Somatua Training Center) to be trained as carpenters and concrete workers. Therefore, the Intan Jaya Regency Government does not have the authority to intervene in the rules applied at Somatua Training Center.

“Gentlemen, you are training here not for the benefit of others or the local government. This is preparation for yourselves to work in the future. So, I hope you take it seriously in order to achieve good results,” emphasized Jerry Diwitau.
Mey Ubra, the Operations Manager of the Somatua Foundation, also expressed similar sentiments, stating that Somatua Training Center strives to provide the best training and therefore highly values good cooperation from the trainees. The skills gained from this training will be beneficial for developing their own region, namely Intan Jaya Regency. Meanwhile, Andrias Ugipa, one of the six trainees participating in the collaboration between Somatua Training Center and the Intan Jaya Government, expressed hope that representatives from the Intan Jaya Government would visit more often to monitor their progress and ensure the training runs smoothly and successfully.

For your information, after a lengthy negotiation process, the Intan Jaya Regency Government and Somatua Training Center agreed to establish a construction training collaboration for participants from this regency in Central Papua Province. This collaboration was realized with the arrival of six trainees from Intan Jaya, personally accompanied by the Head of the Department of Manpower and Industry along with several officials from the department. This partnership marks the starting point for continuing the training program under a cooperative scheme between both parties in the future. These six inaugural trainees from Intan Jaya will undergo training until December 2023.(TimSTC)
