somatuatrainingcenter.com Mimika – Commander of the XVII Cenderawasih Regional Military Command (Pangdam), Major General (Mayjen) TNI Muhammad Saleh Mustafa, expressed his readiness to support and enhance the quality of human resources (HR) of indigenous Papuan youth in general, and specifically in Central Papua Province.

This statement and commitment were made by the Commander of the XVII Cenderawasih Regional Military Command during his visit to Somatua Training Center (STC) on Monday (March 13, 2023). The Commander of XVII Cenderawasih, accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Dedy Dwi Cahyadi, Mimika District Military Commander (Dandim 1710), and other Indonesian Army officers, was welcomed and personally accompanied throughout the day at STC by Maximus Tipagau, Director of the Somatua Foundation and founder of STC.

In order to empower indigenous Papuan youth through STC, the Commander of XVII Cenderawasih Regional Military Command expressed his commitment to establish cooperation with regional heads.
“This is also a good momentum or opportunity for STC to produce more ready-to-work local labor, in line with the vision, mission, and great hopes of Maximus, which is to develop skilled and competent human resources that can certainly combat social issues such as poverty, disease, and educational backwardness,” said the Commander of XVII Cenderawasih Regional Military Command.

The top commander of Kodam XVII Cenderawasih was also impressed by the success story of Maximus Tipagau, a creative and persistent young entrepreneur who founded STC through the Somatua Foundation, which he established back in 2008.
STC has now developed into a Vocational Training Center (BLK) in Central Papua Province, following its official inauguration by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, on November 30, 2022.

Maximus Tipagau, together with the STC team, accompanied the visit of the XVII Cenderawasih Regional Military Commander and his entourage starting from the BLK Somatua Training Center building, located behind the local government housing complex in Timika Jaya Subdistrict, SP2. The group then proceeded to the STC BLK building on Cenderawasih Street, SP2, where they also visited the classrooms used for training participants.

During the visit, the Commander of Cenderawasih Regional Military Command and his entourage received an explanation about the training programs and technical operations conducted by STC, including the workshop unit, welding, and the use of heavy equipment.

After directly observing the facilities, infrastructure, and training programs at STC, Maximus then invited the Cenderawasih Commander and his entourage to enjoy various coffee selections at Cafe Kamoro while engaging in light conversation.
On that occasion, Maximus expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Commander of Cenderawasih, the Mimika District Military Commander (Dandim 1710), and the Indonesian Army personnel for taking the time to visit STC.
