Central Papua — The K3 training program at the Safety Training Center (STC) has entered its sixth day with a field practice agenda. After focusing on theory and safety knowledge tests for the previous five days, participants began directly applying the material they had learned on Tuesday (May 20).

Two main practical exercises were conducted in this session, namely Latoto Group and Job Safety Analysis (Job Safety Analysis - JSA). In the Latoto Group session, students were asked to apply Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) devices on simulated work equipment. This exercise aimed to introduce safety procedures that prevent accidents during machine repair or maintenance.

“LOTO training is very important to familiarize participants with the lockout procedures before working. It becomes part of a safe work culture that must be implemented,” said one of the instructors at the training site.

In addition, participants also underwent Job Safety Analysis practice. In this session, they were asked to analyze work steps and identify potential hazards that might arise. One of the female students, Yakomina, served as a representative who demonstrated the JSA stages directly in front of the instructors and her peers.

“JSA helps us think critically before starting work. We learn to identify risks and find ways to avoid them,” said Milawati after the practice session.

The sixth day of practice served as a reaffirmation that understanding K3 theory must be accompanied by practical field skills. Through this approach, STC hopes that graduates of the K3 class will become workers who are not only technically competent but also highly aware of workplace safety. (STC)
