Students from the welder department at Somatua Training Center participated in a training activity led by Instructor Ricky Yandeday. Three students had the opportunity to sharpen their skills in measuring, cutting, and welding while fabricating safety glass protectors for excavators on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

The activity began with precise measurement of the excavator glass to ensure the accuracy of the protector’s dimensions. Next, the students cut the metal according to the specified measurements. Instructor Ricky Yandeday carefully supervised and guided the students to ensure the cuts were precise and met safety standards.

The next stage was welding to assemble the cut metal pieces into the excavator safety glass protector. The students showed enthusiasm and focus as they followed instructions and applied the welding techniques they had learned. Instructor Ricky Yandeday continuously provided guidance and corrections to ensure optimal welding quality.

This training activity is part of Somatua Training Center’s program to equip students with skills needed in the mining and construction industries. By honing their measuring, cutting, and welding abilities, students are expected to produce quality products that meet safety standards.(YS)
