Somatua Training Center (STC), which carries the tagline “school for adults,” has conducted training programs for job seekers across six intakes since 2020. The training activities at STC are held three times a year, offering various training programs each session. Up to the latest intake, STC has graduated hundreds of skilled workers ready to enter the workforce. STC prioritizes native Papuan youth as training participants to boost the quality of local human resources.

Somatua Training Center will soon hold the final training session for 2022. Registration for the seventh intake began on September 26, 2022, and is still ongoing. Today (Thursday, October 13), prospective trainees who have registered, passed the administrative selection, and completed the initial payment (down payment) were called back by STC to complete re-registration. They will then participate in a one-month training program at STC.
"So far, the number of prospective students who have registered is quite decent. There are a total of 28 registered applicants. However, only 5 of them have paid the down payment and are ready to participate in the training. These five who have paid the down payment are the ones who will take part in the training. We will still start the training, even though the number is not yet optimal, but we will proceed with the training activities," said Stenly Sirfefa, one of the staff members in the training and education division at STC. The programs to be offered in this training are welding and excavator operator training.

As information, after undergoing the plenary stages at the provincial level and the ministry in Jakarta, Somatua Training Center (STC) was officially accredited on August 18, 2022. This means that STC has met the eight quality standards set by KALPK. The national accreditation certificate was handed over to STC representatives, led by Mrs. Suriani Surbakti, advisor and coordinator of the STC accreditation preparation team. She was also accompanied by Mrs. Jumik Wiyono, an assessor and Chairperson of the LPK Accreditation Committee of Papua Province. The certificate presentation took place at Merlynn Park Hotel Jakarta on September 9, 2022. This status not only confirms the legal standing of STC but also boosts the confidence of training participants to join the programs offered by STC.
