After conducting a series of visits and outreach programs to high schools (SMA) and vocational schools (SMK) around Timika since late February, the Somatua Foundation team visited the STKIP Hermon Timika campus today (March 22, 2024). This campus is a higher education institution focused on teacher training and education, located on Jl. Budi Utomo Ujung. STKIP Hermon offers four study programs: Mathematics, Physical Education, and English.

A special aspect of today’s visit by the Somatua Foundation team was that the campus suspended all classes so that all students and lecturers could fully participate in the event.
The team arrived at the campus around 4:30 PM WIT and was warmly welcomed by the Head of STKIP Hermon, Mrs. Densemina Wabdaron, S.Pd., M.Pd. Several vice heads, program coordinators, and lecturers also participated in the event. Students from all three study programs filled the campus auditorium to listen attentively. The team introduced the Somatua Foundation in general and provided a detailed overview of the training programs offered by Somatua Training Center.

Also accompanying the Somatua Foundation team was Mrs. Aryati Nagapa, Director of PT Mpaigelah. In her speech, she encouraged the students to maintain their enthusiasm in completing their studies. “You are still young. You must have spirit, strength, and strong will to learn. Without these, your studies will be hindered,” she emphasized. She also expressed her appreciation to the campus for providing the time and venue for the team’s visit.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of STKIP Hermon, in her brief remarks, conveyed that in the implementation of the independent campus learning curriculum, relationships with the industrial world are an important factor. The visit by the Somatua Foundation team marks the first representation from the professional sector to come to this campus.
“We are truly grateful that we don’t have to search for partners willing to come and share their experiences with our students. This is extraordinary, and we are very thankful,” she expressed. She also hopes that this visit can lead to further cooperation between the institutions.
On this occasion, the campus representatives and the Somatua Foundation team also accompanied the Muslim lecturers and students who were observing the fasting month in breaking their fast together.(STC)
