The first training session for the six trainees in the construction program took place today (Monday, 30/10/2023). The trainees began with a brief classroom theory session before being introduced to the practical training area. On the same day, the trainees from Intan Jaya Regency were immediately involved in hands-on work at a retaining wall construction project located on Jl. Cendrawasih, behind the Mimika Regency Government Housing Complex, within the premises of PT Mpaigelah's office.

The trainees were guided by construction instructor Ezra Matasak. He supervised the six trainees as they worked on the retaining wall alongside several professional workers involved in the project.

“On behalf of my five friends, today is our first day of training. The work we are doing involves building a retaining wall, and in this task, we learn how to mix cement using a mortar mixer and assist the foreman. We are also taught how to neatly arrange the stones so that the retaining wall looks straight and tidy,” said Abner Sani, a construction trainee.

The trainees also began occupying the dormitory at Somatua Training Center after today’s training session. They will undergo training at Somatua Training Center for the next two months. They are the pioneers of the collaboration between the Intan Jaya Regency Government and the Somatua Foundation.(TimSTC)
