Somatua Training Center (STC) is a Timika-based platform dedicated to producing skilled and competitive workers. Its primary focus is to develop the human resources of Indigenous Papuans (OAP), particularly those from the Seven Indigenous Tribes.
At the end of this month, STC was appointed by the Department of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans) of Mimika Regency as one of the institutions to conduct job training programs for Indigenous Papuans (OAP) and prospective participants who were born and raised in Timika (Labeti), funded by Disnakertrans. STC representatives also attended the launch of this program, which took place at Hotel Horison Diana, Jl. Budi Utomo, Timika, on Tuesday morning (July 25).

STC has been assigned to provide training for 51 participants, divided into two fields of study. Out of the total, 40 participants will undergo heavy equipment operator training (excavator), while the remaining 11 will take part in carpentry (wood construction) training. The program is scheduled to run for one month.

To ensure STC’s readiness to conduct the training program, local government officials visited the center on Tuesday afternoon following the opening event at Horison Diana. The visit covered both the main STC building on Jl. Cendrawasih and the practical training site located behind the SP 2 Government Housing Complex.

Jull Eddy Way, S.Sos, Head of the Governance and Special Autonomy Subdivision of Central Papua Province, along with his staff, visited STC to inspect the final preparations of training facilities and infrastructure. During the visit, the delegation was accompanied and briefed by STC’s Head of Operations, Stenly Rahaded. The government hopes that STC can become a regular training provider funded through the Special Autonomy (Otsus) budget.
