Central Papua – The Central Papua Provincial Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of local human resources, particularly in the field of Occupational Health and Safety (K3). Through a strategic collaboration with the Vocational Training Center (BLK) Somatua Training Center, participants are now undergoing intensive training in Safety K3 as part of a workforce competency development program in the region.

Today, Wednesday (July 31), the Safety K3 training class participants entered the third day of their program. After spending the first two days focusing on theoretical lessons in the classroom, the participants have now begun the initial stage of practical training. The first subject introduced during this hands-on session is Job Observation Analysis Job Observation Analysis (JOA), one of the key components in understanding and applying fundamental principles of workplace safety in the field.
In this session, the students were guided to identify various potential hazards and risks that may arise in a given job. They were also taught how to conduct a thorough analysis of the work environment, as well as how to formulate control measures and preventive strategies to reduce the likelihood of workplace accidents.

“Safety is extremely important in any job performed by employees. Therefore, as a safety officer, it is essential to understand the hazards and risks associated with a particular task. That’s why we learn about Job Safety Analysis (JSA),”,said Subhana Simamora, Safety K3 Instructor at Somatua Training Center. Subhana also emphasized that understanding JSA is not merely theoretical, but a practical skill that is crucial in the workplace—especially in sectors such as construction, mining, and other heavy industries.
This training program is expected to serve as a vital foundation for participants as they pursue careers in the field of occupational safety. Through this collaboration, the Central Papua Provincial Government aims to ensure that graduates of the program are not only officially certified but also possess the practical skills needed to contribute professionally to various ongoing development projects across the Central Papua region.

The training will continue over the coming weeks with a combination of classroom theory sessions and hands-on field practice. In addition to the Safety K3 class, Somatua Training Center has also been entrusted to train students in Concrete and Light Steel Construction, Welding, and Backhoe Loader Operation.
With a structured training program and experienced instructors, this initiative is expected to pave the way for the young generation of Central Papua to enter the workforce with strong preparedness and solid competencies. (STC)
