Central Papua – The Head of the Papua Tengah Provincial Office of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Fretz James Borai, visited the Somatua Training Center (STC) to directly observe the progress of trainees from Papua Tengah. During his visit, Borai expressed his appreciation to STC for providing opportunities for Papuan youth to be trained and guided. He noted that the presence of such a training institution is highly relevant to the needs of the region, which continues to face a high unemployment rate.

“We are grateful that Somatua Training Center welcomed us. After entering and seeing firsthand, it is clear that these young Papuans are being educated and trained here. This program is also in line with the government’s efforts to reduce unemployment in Papua Tengah,” Borai said.,” said Borai

He further emphasized that, to this day, Papua Tengah does not yet have an official government-run Vocational Training Center (BLK). For that reason, the presence of Somatua Training Center is considered a strategic partner that must continue to be supported so vocational and skills training can keep running.

“These steps are part of the government’s gradual efforts to reduce unemployment. As long as there is no government-run vocational training center, we will certainly continue to support and assist the training centers that already exist,” he added. he added.

Borai also conveyed his hope that more young Papuans will have the opportunity to pursue education and training at STC. In this way, the younger generation of Papua Tengah will gain the skills needed to enter the workforce with greater competence.

“Our hope is that more Papuan youths can be educated here, so that a skilled, independent, and work-ready generation can emerge. We also look forward to the establishment of regular advanced training programs, particularly in the field of occupational safety (K3), so that students will have greater opportunities to secure employment,” he concluded. he concluded.

This visit reaffirms the commitment of the Papua Tengah Provincial Government to collaborate with non-governmental institutions in preparing competent human resources, especially in light of the current limitations of government-owned vocational training facilities. (STC)
