Central Papua — Somatua Training Center (STC) handed over Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ten prospective students who will participate in training at the center as part of the Intake 23 program.

The PPE handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the training area of Somatua Training Center, Timika. The recipients of the safety equipment included four students from the Occupational Health and Safety (K3/Safety) department and six students from the Heavy Equipment Operator department.

The types of PPE provided included safety helmets, boots, reflective vests, protective goggles, gloves, as well as additional equipment tailored to the specific needs of each department. This handover is part of the training’s standard operating procedures, emphasizing the importance of workplace safety from day one.

 

The Head of the STC Training Program emphasized that the PPE handover is not merely ceremonial but represents the institution’s commitment to fostering a work culture that upholds the highest standards of safety.

“Safety is our top priority. We want to ensure that every trainee understands the importance of personal protection from day one. This also serves as their initial preparation before they enter the real working world,” he explained.

After receiving the equipment, the prospective students are scheduled to begin their training sessions on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, according to their respective programs. It is hoped that the participants will not only acquire technical skills but also embrace the values of workplace safety, which are crucial in the modern industrial world.
