The Somatua Training Center (LPK-STC) today (Friday, 26\/10\/2023) welcomed six trainees from Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua. The arrival of these six trainees is the result of coordination and collaboration between the Intan Jaya Regency Government, specifically the Department of Manpower and Industry, and the Somatua Foundation, which oversees LPK-STC. The welcoming ceremony was held simply in the meeting room on the first floor of the Somatua Training Center building, Jl. Cendrawasih SP 2, Timika.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of the Department of Manpower and Industry of Intan Jaya Regency, Yohanes Tabuni, S.E., as the person responsible from the Intan Jaya local government for this cooperation program, personally accompanied the six trainees who will undergo internship training for the next two months. These six trainee candidates will participate in training in wood and concrete construction at Somatua Training Center from November until the end of December 2023. Also present at the event were the Secretary of the Department of Manpower and Industry, Manfret Abugau, S.Sos; Head of the Manpower and Training Division, Jerry Diwitau, S.Ip., M.Sos; and the department\u2019s treasurer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation arrived at the Somatua Training Center building around 12:30 PM WIT and was welcomed by the Head of Operations of the Somatua Foundation and other staff members. The welcoming ceremony began with the formal handover of the trainees from the Intan Jaya Regency Government, represented by the Head of the Department of Manpower and Industry, to the Head of Operations at Somatua Training Center. This was symbolized by the presentation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to one of the trainee representatives. Several speeches were delivered during the reception, including those from the Head of the Department, the Head of Operations of the Somatua Foundation, the Secretary of the Department, the Head of Manpower and Training Division, and a representative from the management of PT Mpaigelah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The representative from the Department of Manpower and Industry of Intan Jaya Regency emphasized that the trainees should study diligently so they can return equipped with knowledge and apply it in Intan Jaya. These six individuals are pioneers for future cooperation programs that will involve a larger number of participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is the first step. Next year, we will send more participants, possibly operators,\u201d said the Head of the Department of Manpower and Industry, met with applause from the audience. Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Department reminded the trainees to study seriously so they truly return equipped with knowledge. \u201cI hope the instructors at Somatua Training Center can guide our trainees to acquire the skills we expect. They also need character development,\u201d he said at the end of his speech. The Head of the Manpower and Training Division added that the situation in Intan Jaya demands a greater availability of skilled local workers to help develop the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of Operations of the Somatua Foundation, Mey M. Ubra, and a representative from PT Mpaigelah management, John Ibo, expressed their appreciation to the Intan Jaya Regency Government for taking the best steps to invest in human resources for the future of the region. On this occasion, the delegation also had the opportunity to tour the classrooms and practice rooms after having lunch together.
