Somatua Training Center (STC), with the tagline \u2018school for adults,\u2019 actively supports the advancement of competent education for indigenous Papuans. Moreover, as part of the acceleration of development in eastern Indonesia, especially Papua, promoted by the Central Government, Maximus Tipagau, founder of the Somatua Foundation, openly encourages all Papuan youths to learn and build human resources. Although STC itself is still relatively young, having been established in 2017, the vision of shaping a brighter future for Papuan human resources can be realized thanks to the skilled and qualified workforce nurtured at the STC Vocational Training Center (BLK) located on Cenderawasih Street, Timika, Central Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSTC as a Vocational Training Center (BLK) will operate according to competency standards, providing training in both soft skills and hard skills. Therefore, I invite the seven Papuan tribes\u2014from Nabire, Paniai, Intan Jaya, Puncak, and the highlands\u2014all to come and register. Even those facing difficulties or who have not attended school can be assisted,\u201d urged Maximus, who also serves as Expert Staff to the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri)
Maximus stated that STC, which owns assets worth IDR 16 billion\u2014including learning facilities and supporting equipment for educational building development\u2014is entirely privately funded. In fact, STC has already produced over 400 graduates (alumni) with skills, competencies, and productivity that are qualified and self-reliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After officially receiving accreditation, STC continues to uphold high-quality education standards. The accreditation covers the learning process using two methods: face-to-face (offline) training with various supporting facilities to sharpen skills and gain experience, and an online method using an application that contains comprehensive materials. Students can register and participate in the program online and will receive the same educational certificate upon completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn this digital age, technology serves as a supporting platform so that training participants\u2014whether they are in Puncak, Nabire, Paniai, Serui, Waropen, or even outside Papua\u2014need not worry. As long as there is internet access, everything becomes easy,\u201d he explained. STC is committed to making an active and positive contribution through its training programs, which focus on developing skills and expertise for the general public, especially in the MSME sector, ranging from consultation to independent marketing of superior products made from local materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The establishment of STC as a Vocational Training Center (BLK) is a wonderful blessing, especially as it will be inaugurated by the Vice President of Indonesia, Prof. DR (H.C) K.H. Ma\u2019ruf Amin on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. \u201cMoving forward, STC will partner with all stakeholders in the development and advancement of indigenous Papuan human resources,\u201d said Maximus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naftali, one of the STC students, expressed his pride in being able to study at STC. \u201cI am very grateful to Mr. Max, who cares about the future of Papuan children and is fostering excellent Papuan human resources through STC. It has been proven by many who have become independent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
